ProMaster L-Bracket for Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II Review

I always browse the internet looking for the review of  L-Bracket for Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II from time to time and found that there is no any review of ProMaster L-Bracket. So I took this opportunity to make a short review of the ProMaster L-Bracket for E-EM1 Mark II after I just got it.

As you know, the L-Bracket of Really Right Stuff is pricey and costing $180. Kirk L-Bracket is a little bit cheaper at  $120.  But this ProMaster is only $60, so this L-Bracket is definitely the best price.

I can’t find the specifications of this L-Bracket. Even the website of ProMaster doesn’t give any detail much about specifications. And I don’t have the scale to weigh it.  Since it made of aluminum, so it doesn’t make the camera feel much heavier.

The followings are the pictures of ProMaster L-Bracket for E-M1 Mark II (Code:7671). It came with the box and the hexagon screwdriver.

The L portion is removable by using the supplied hexagon screwdriver.

The base plate has a strap lug and a 1/4-20 thread for connecting additional accessories.

The L-Bracket makes the camera looks bigger and tough.

If you are the person with small hands, you may feel the grip of E-M1 Mark II is bigger and longer. I also feel like that, anyhow after using it for a while, I get used to it.

The base plate doesn’t block the battery compartment. And the L- portion doesn’t block the microphone & headphone jacks and the HDMI & USB connectors as shown in the picture below:

I don’t like the LCD screen which can only tilt at 135 degrees.

You can adjust the LCD in the position like the one in the picture below if this is acceptable to you.

You can flip out the screen at the angle of 90 degrees, and turn it around without any problem. There’s no need to remove it’s L portion.

If you use the camera with the vertical position, it’s quite alright either by using with handheld or tripod.

The final word,  it’s a flawless L-Bracket if we shoot the pictures by using the EVF or using the live view with the LCD be folded outwards towards the camera. But if we want to shoot horizontally with LCD screen flip out from the closed position, then we’ll find the inconvenience of using it.  Mostly, I take the pictures with the EVF and shoot the video with live view without tilting the LCD. Therefore, this ProMaster L-Bracket is perfect for me  especially with its build quality, usability and the acceptable price. If you are the person who want to use the  LCD with more extension over 135 degrees, you’d better look other brands such as Really Right Stuff.
