I left China 14 years ago after working there for almost 11 years. We all know, China is developing fast in every aspect such as infrastructure, transportation, and technology. In June 2025, I visited Chongqing. It’s my first time traveling to this direct-administered municipality apart from Beijing, Shanghai, and Tianjin. My goal in going to Chongqing was ecotourism, rather than a city tour.
Chongqing has many ecotourism destinations, which include Wulong National Park or Wulong Karst National Geology Park, Fairy Maiden Mountain, Longshui Gorge, Dazu Rock Carvings, etc.
Unfortunately, during the visit it rained every day, which spoiled my visit, especially for photography and videography. I brought along my Canon V1 camera, which is not water-resistant. The OM System OM-1 camera should have been with me, as it has an IP-53 weather-sealed design. I used a Canon V1 camera because I wanted to travel light.
On the first day, when I visited Wulong Tiankeng Three Bridges in Wulong National Park, I took fewer than 50 photos. It’s not fun when I had to travel with the camera gear, an umbrella, a raincoat, walk up/downhill through the crowd for a 4-kilometer distance and sweat inside the rain gear because of the temperature and humidity’s impact. I felt I was torturing myself. The Fairy Maiden Mountain was another place that I didn’t take a single photo because of the heavy rain.
Anyway, I still have some pictures to display:
