Penang 2024: Street Photography

I travelled to Penang, Malaysia, in the middle of June 2024. The purpose of my visit was the reunion of my Malaysian and Japanese friends. We have been friends since my 4-year foreign service assignment in Penang 44 years ago. After that, I’d never met these friends. Though I visited Penang 2 times for the past 8 years, but all of my friends have already moved to other cities and other countries. So this is our first reunion after 44 years (except for my Japanese friend, I met him and his wife 17-18 years ago in China).

I had a slight chance of shooting street photography in George Town, Penang, which is my favorite genre of photography.

My only disappointment in Penang happened on the last day. I had almost the whole day for a photo walk before leaving Penang for Bangkok in the evening. It’s because of the rain during the entire afternoon prevented me to fulfill my intention. I even went to the Komtar tower in the afternoon in order to take pictures from the top of this 68-storey tower. Unfortunately, the staff at the ticket counter refused to sell the ticket to me to go up there for the reason of raining, though it’s just a drizzle at that time.

However, I still took some street photography from Penang:
